September 20, HBIS Chairman met BHP CEO Brandon Craig in Shanghai and agreed to deepen their mutual trust, strengthen their value chain collaboration and jointly implement the Green & Low carbon development of steel industry.

HBIS Chief Accountant Hu Zhigang, BHP Sales and Marketing President Michiel Hovers, BHP China President Wang Yuekui also attended the meeting. ‌

Liu Jian said China's steel industry was pushing hard for green and low-carbon transition. Optimizing raw materials is key to deep decarbonization and opens broad space for upstream and downstream collaboration. BHP has long been providing stable, reliable resources to China's steel industry. We hope BHP will adjust its raw material supply structure to better meet the industry's green transition needs. HBIS and BHP have built deep mutual trust over the years. We hope both sides will further deepen supply chain collaboration, keep advancing low-carbon projects, and together set a benchmark for coordinated decarbonization in the steel supply chain.

Brandon Craig said China has long been BHP's most important market, and the steel industry's green transition is highly aligned with BHP's vision. BHP will keep providing high-quality iron ore and optimizing its raw material structure to meet customer needs under different processes. HBIS is a key strategic customer of BHP, and the two sides have already carried out productive cooperation in low-carbon metallurgy and CCUS. We hope both sides will maintain a solid relationship, deepen cooperation in low-carbon raw materials and hydrogen metallurgy, and together contribute to the steel industry's green transition.

HBIS International Trade and BHP China executive were also in the meeting.
